The declaration of the International Yoga Day, Longest Yoga Chain and so on are the other most highlighting incidents of the year. International Yoga Day Declared – June 21
Yoga is an ancient around 5,000-year-old physical, mental and spiritual practice. The concept of Yoga was originated from the Ayurvedic period in India. The main aim of the Yoga practice is to transform the physical body and mind. Due to the great benefits of Yoga, Indian Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi suggested to approve 21 June, as International Yoga Day during his speech in the UN General Assembly on 27 September. Narendra Modi has suggested this date just because it is a longest day of the year as per Northern Hemisphere and also has a special implication in several parts of the world.
The suggestion of Modi ji was highly supported by many global leaders and on 11 December, 2014, the UN Assembly approved a resolution with declaring 21 June as an International Day of Yoga.
BKS Iyengar is renowned as a father of modern yoga. He was a person who spread yoga all around the world. At the age of 96, BKS Iyengar has passed away on 20th August 2014 in Pune and left an irrevocable mark in the Yoga industry. Really, he was a person who has changed many people’s life through his unique yoga blessings and his memories will surely last long in our heart. He gave a new light to Yoga and made his own yoga style, i.e. Iyengar Yoga who gained massive popularity throughout the world. His yoga style explains various yoga forms that help to make an extraordinary bond between human body, mind and soul. This yoga guru transformed the life of people and made them strong from externally as well as internally. In addition to the Yoga Industry, he was also engaged in spreading the knowledge about nature conservation.
Longest Yoga Chain – Guinness World Record
The longest chain was achieved at The Great Namaste event. It was a fun and inspiring event of more than 800 Riskologists from Portland and from all over the world. This outstanding event was organized by the World Domination Summit (USA) in Portland on 11th July 2014 at 11.15 AM.
This year The Great Namaste event broken the record for world’s longest yoga chain of 696 yogis in India that was established in they year 2012. Breaking a world record is not an easy job, but constant efforts and firm determination will make it possible.
Awake: The Life of Yogananda Movie.
The movie Awake: The Life of Yogananda is a best ever movie for the yogis, meditators, and spiritual seekers, co-directed by the Paola di Florio and Lisa Leeman. The screening of this movie took place in around 35 cities. This unconventional biopic documentary is gripping as well as inspiring. Awake has already won three awards and various prestigious accolades from the Yoga Glitterati. The movie Awake is based on the life experiences and lessons of Swami Paramahansa Yogananda. The movie captures intimate, tragic as well as touching moments of guru ji’s life.
Indian police chief pushes yoga and meditation to strengthen arm of the law

An Indian police chief has adopted a serene and peaceful approach of Yoga in order to improve the behavior among his ranks. He believes the power of meditation and its positive impact on people. The district Commissioner Hasmukh Patel is so much impressed with the benefits of Yoga and therefore he introduced Yoga to his staff. He strongly encouraged the regular practice of yoga to his workforce.

We have faced a great sorrow in the form of losing BKS Iyengar. In the same year, Yoga has received great encouragement as well as worldwide recognition.
